In private security, I’ve learned that the biggest mistake is thinking safety depends only on a uniform, a position, or years of experience. In reality, it depends much more on attitude.
You might not have many years in the field yet, but you can still bring something essential from day one: attention and common sense. Many situations are not solved with complex techniques, but by observing carefully, not taking things for granted, and not ignoring small details.
Another important point: asking questions is not a weakness. In security, asking at the right moment can prevent a much bigger problem later. It is better to appear “overly cautious” than to react too late.
And something I consider fundamental: security is not about being in “control mode”, it is about being in “responsibility mode”. Doing the basics well, respecting procedures, and understanding why they exist.
In the end, in this profession you grow quickly when you combine training with something very simple: being present, being attentive, and never getting complacent.
